South Asian Research Genotyping Array by MedGenome (SARGAM) Enables Genetic Discovery and Precision Medicine for South Asians

SARGAM (South Asian Research Genotyping Array by MedGenome) is a highly optimized array for performing genome-wide genotyping and analysis to enable precision medicine in the South Asian (SAS) population. Currently, there is no genotyping array platform that performs well for the South Asia population in terms of better marker coverage and imputation accuracy. Comparison of an existing global-standard array showed that ~22% of these genotypes are never seen in the SAS individuals. To address the lower imputation performance and lack of SAS genotype coverage, MedGenome partnered with ThermoFisher to design SARGAM, the genotyping array that provides unprecedented imputation accuracy, coverage and economy for genotyping SAS individuals. In this presentation, Dr. Sathirapongsasuti will walk through the design process and highlight unique features that make the SARGAM array the best solution for studying South Asian genetics.
